june evelien

Our daughter was born on July 21, 2009 at 9:02am. She weighed in at 7lbs, 4oz and is 20 3/4 inches tall. Most surprising perhaps is the head full of brown hair she is sporting... definitely putting her brother way behind in that arena :)

The name: we love the freshness of the name June. we met in the month of June and married in the month of June. During my childhood, this time of the year signified the start of freedom: of summers to be spent at the pool, exploring the neighborhood creeks, taking bike rides after dinner, catching fireflies in the backyard during the magical hour of dusk, and the smell of clothes dried on the line in the sunshine. And as if that wasn't enough - who doesn't love some June Carter Cash? That's good listening right there.

Her middle name is a reminder of family - it is my grandmother's middle name, and my middle name. The spelling however is different: Evelien (as opposed to Evelyn) is the dutch spelling of the name, and a small way to remind her of my mother's dutch heritage - an influence I value very highly.

So a little girl named June Evelien, who was actually born in July... we hope she doesn't mind too much. Hah.

More pictures on other cameras that we need to download yet, but here is one immediately following her birth with our OB.

CONGRATULATIONS! I think the name is incredibly fitting and perfect, even if she was born in July.

BTW, you look awesome after giving birth! :)

Thank-you for this Danielle. I love why you have picked such a lovely name for you little girl who is born the same day as my little girl 24 years later (your cousin Lauren of course) and your aunt sandra five years before that.

Both of you look so happy and proud as you should.
